The Board of Lady Managers, the founder of Inova Alexandria Hospital in 1872, and a volunteer auxiliary of the hospital, would like to invite you to attend our fundraising events. Throughout the year, we host events that raise money to support such hospital initiatives as cancer patient assistance, cardiovascular services, and the purchase of the latest technological innovations to improve treatments and care.

Inova Alexandria Hospital is a 318-bed community hospital that offers a full range of healthcare services and has received national recognition for healthcare excellence. A huge part of the hospital’s success is due to its quality nursing staff. Nurses play a significant role at every level enhancing patient and family experiences. From the moment a patient enters the hospital to the time they are discharged, Inova Alexandria Hospital nurses are there to help.
The Board of Lady Managers of Inova Alexandria Hospital has been supporting nurses since the hospital was opened as an infirmary in 1873. In 1894 the Board of Lady Managers started a nursing school, the first in Northern Virginia, graduating nurses almost yearly through 1987.
During National Nurse’s Week, May 6-12, 2023, the Board will be delivering snack bags to each of the nurses’ stations in recognition of their ceaseless care for patients and their families. Stop by the hospital during Nurse’s Week to show your support and acknowledge their hard work.

Examples of our annual fundraising events include:
Fall Bake Sale- Held on the first Saturday after Labor Day, the bake sale is coordinated with the Fairlington United Methodist Church’s Annual Chicken Barbeque. Baked goods are provided by our members and through donations from local restaurants and bakeries. We set up our canopies and tables of desserts close to the barbeque, so guests can first pick up their wonderful chicken meal and then their delicious desserts.



Fashion Show, Luncheon, and Silent Auction- Our biggest event and our oldest – the first fashion show was held in 1944! – we partner with local stores and businesses, which provide clothes for the fashion show and items for the auction. Held in the ballroom of a local hotel, this popular event is an opportunity to relax with friends as you enjoy a delicious luncheon, a colorful fashion show, and great auction deals!
Little Theatre of Alexandria and the Board of Lady Manager’s ‘Night At The Theatre’– Whether comedy, drama or musical, the Little Theatre always provides an entertaining evening. As a bonus to attendees, during intermission our Board members offer a delicious array of desserts for your enjoyment.

Over the course of the year we hold several other events, and ALL funds raised go to Inova Alexandria Hospital. We are always exploring new partnerships and new ways to support our great community hospital so please get in touch! info@boardofladymanagers.org
