Caring for the health of our Alexandria community for almost 150 years
Ever since its founding in 1872, Inova Alexandria Hospital has relied upon its community for support. In the early days, this included bedding, food, and medicines. When there was a need, the community rallied around its hospital, providing the resources necessary for it to flourish.
- Today the Board of Lady Managers continues to make possible that connection between the community and the hospital. Through a variety of fundraising events, community members such as you are able to make gifts to support the hospital’s purchase of many life-saving technologies as well as services.
Since 1993 we have donated almost $4 million to Inova Alexandria Hospital for medical technologies that improve patient care, such as isolettes for the NICU, anesthesia machines, neurosurgical intraoperative microscopes and an O-arm intraoperative 2D/3D imaging device. Most recently our gifts went directly to the conversion of regular patient rooms to negative pressure rooms for covid-19 patients.
Special Interest Funds Perhaps you have a special interest in the hospital’s cardiovascular services, or cancer resources, or spiritual support. Perhaps you and your family have benefited from Inova Alexandria Hospital’s unparalleled treatments and services. Or you may want to help the Board with its current focus, the Technology Advancement Fund*. A gift in honor of, or in memory of a loved one can help future patients and their families. Your gifts can be directed to a fund of special interest, or where most needed, including:
*Inova Alexandria Hospital Board of Lady Managers Technology Advancement Fund, our current priority – gifts are used for the latest technology advancements in medicine, such as negative pressure rooms.
Inova Alexandria Hospital Board of Lady Managers Cancer Resource Fund – gifts are used for cancer patient assistance, including medications, blankets, and dietary supplements.
Inova Alexandria Hospital Cardiovascular Services Fund – gifts are used to enhance delivery of patient care in the cardiovascular field.
Inova Alexandria Hospital Interfaith Chapel Fund – gifts are used for the upkeep and renovation of the Hospital Chapel.
Inova Alexandria Hospital Pastoral Care Services Fund – gifts are used for special needs of patients and families.
Inova Alexandria Hospital Patients Assistance Fund – gifts are used to provide care and support services to patients at Inova Alexandria Hospital.
Fund priorities are established by the Board of Lady Managers in consultation with Hospital Staff.
